What's New in Katy This Fall: Openings, Events & Growth

August 6, 2026

Katy's growth this year has a shape, and if you already live here you can feel it. New restaurants are not scattering evenly across the map. They are snapping onto two anchors that already work, and a third one that is being poured from scratch. The Cinco Ranch corridor around LaCenterra is stacking chef-driven concepts. Historic Town Square and Mason Road are picking up the neighborhood spots and the festival weekends. Out past Texas Heritage Parkway, developers are building a brand-new center that has not opened yet but is already pulling tenants toward it. That is the useful map for your fall.

LaCenterra Keeps Adding Weight to the Cinco Ranch Corridor

The headline arrival is North Italia, and the specifics are worth knowing before you try to get a table. The Katy location is set to open in June 2026 in a nearly 9,000-square-foot space with seating for up to 300, an open kitchen where you can watch the pasta get pulled, indoor and outdoor bar space, and two covered patios. The build-out is designed around Katy's oak trees, with a mural by Texas artist Kyle Wadsworth on the walls, and the kitchen will be led by regional chef Shawney Severns and executive chef Jairo Gonzalez. That is a 300-seat, chef-driven Italian concept dropping into a lifestyle center that already carries the local dining weight west of the Grand Parkway.

What that means practically: LaCenterra is now working as an anchor rather than a stop. The same address hosts the LaCenterra Farmers Market on Sunday mornings and Fleet Feet Katy's free Tuesday evening community 5K, which means a resident's week can start and end in the same parking lot without it feeling like errands. The gravitational logic is the reason chains keep picking this spot over greenfield pads on I-10.

Mason Road and Historic Town Square Are the Neighborhood Side

If LaCenterra is where the destination openings land, Mason Road and the Old Katy blocks around Avenue C are where the every-week places are showing up.

Fuzzy's Tacos and Margs opened on December 22, 2025 at 233 S. Mason Road, close enough to the school corridors that it is already working as a weeknight default. Meltz Grill, the locally grown burger and gyro concept, added a Mason Road location this year, and Crust Pizza Co. is opening a fresh store inside Jordan Ranch Market on the western side of the county. Whataburger's Morton Ranch store, running a 24-hour drive-thru near Katy Park, has quietly become the late-shift and post-game anchor for that stretch.

The through-line: these are not places you drive across town to try once. They are the openings that change the shape of an ordinary Tuesday.

The Rice Harvest Weekend Is Still the Main Event

For all the new restaurant chatter, the biggest fall weekend on the resident calendar is still free and still downtown. The Katy Rice Harvest Festival runs October 10 and 11, 2026 at Historic Town Square, 904 Avenue C, Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. Neal McCoy is on the Sunday bill at 2:15 p.m., and the Boots and Brews kickoff runs the month before on September 12.

Saturday 10 a.m.–10 p.m., Sunday noon–6 p.m., Historic Town Square. Free admission. Vendors, live music, and the Neal McCoy set close out Sunday afternoon.

Plan around it. Mason Road traffic on that Saturday morning is a different animal than any other weekend in October, and the good parking on the Avenue C side goes early. If you have out-of-town family visiting the second weekend of October, this is your itinerary handed to you.

The Third Pole Is Being Poured Right Now

The interesting thing on the map is the pole that does not exist yet. Texas Heritage Marketplace is a 165-acre mixed-use project going in near Interstate 10 and Texas Heritage Parkway, anchored by a Target Supercenter and planned for more than 750,000 square feet of retail, dining, and entertainment, with roughly five acres of green space for outdoor programming. Tenant openings are rolling out through 2026 as construction phases finish, which means the first restaurants and stores will be operating this fall while the rest of the site is still under construction fencing.

A second, smaller node is going in at Fulshear Central, a mixed-use development along FM 1093 west of Katy, with the first phase scheduled to open in early 2026. And Nonno's Kitchen, a family-style Italian concept, was projected to open on Mason Road in January 2026. If you live in Elyson, Cane Island, or Jordan Ranch, the shortest drive to a full grocery-and-dinner run is about to change.

Fall Weekends at Central Green Park

Central Green Park at LaCenterra keeps running the free programming that turns Friday and Saturday nights into something you can walk to. The recent lineup has included the Texas Eagles tribute band and NightBird playing Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac favorites, both free, both outdoor. Katy Mills hosted the Peach Truck Tour stop for peach and pecan pickup on August 2. The Rice Harvest Boots and Brews kickoff on September 12 leads into the October festival weekend.

A quick resident's checklist for the fall:

  • Sept 12: Boots and Brews at Historic Town Square, the Rice Harvest kickoff
  • Sept 25: Pitbull at Morton Ranch
  • Oct 10–11: Katy Rice Harvest Festival, Historic Town Square, free
  • Tuesdays: Fleet Feet Katy 5K at LaCenterra, 6 p.m., all paces welcome
  • Sundays: LaCenterra Farmers Market
  • Ongoing: Central Green Park free concerts, check the schedule the week of

What the Pattern Tells You If You Live Here

Two things worth carrying out of all of this.

First, the gravity is real. New restaurants and retail are following rooftops, and the rooftops have concentrated most heavily in the Cinco Ranch and west Katy communities around Jordan Ranch, Elyson, and Cane Island. That is why P.F. Chang's is spending close to $3.8 million to renovate a Katy Mills space, why North Italia is putting a 300-seat build in a lifestyle center rather than a freestanding pad, and why the Target-anchored center at Texas Heritage Parkway penciled at 165 acres. The tenants are betting on the density you already see on your morning commute.

Second, the fall calendar has more free, walkable programming than most residents actually use. If your Saturday routine has drifted into the same three parking lots for a year, the fix is on the schedule. Central Green on a Friday, Historic Town Square the second weekend of October, LaCenterra on a Sunday morning. You already live here. Use it.

Thinking About What All This Growth Means for Your Block?

When new restaurants, retail anchors, and mixed-use centers land within a few miles of home, the ripple runs through more than dinner reservations. Property values, resale timing, and new-home community pacing all move with it.
